The Haas Healthcare Association is a student-run organization of MBA candidates and other UC Berkeley graduates focusing on the business of healthcare. HHA aims to both educate students on the multi-faceted nature of the healthcare and life sciences industries as well as connect students with industry alumni and professionals. HHA’s realm spans biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic industries, provider organizations such as hospitals & physician organizations, health information technology and health plans as well as related service industries such as consulting & investment banking. Our organization maintains a comprehensive network of students, alumni, academics and executives across a broad spectrum of fields, including scientists, policy experts and commercial innovators. HHA hopes to help students build a lifelong network within the healthcare space. Our marquee event, the HAAS BUSINESS of HEALTH CARE CONFERENCE, is the largest conference on campus and brings together students and industry professionals. The student-led conference includes high profile speakers, diverse panels, and networking opportunities. This year we will host several company treks, our annual Healthcare Firm Night, an alumni networking event, and multiple speaker & social events. 2011 company treks include Abbott, Genentech, McKesson, Stanford Hospital, Blue Shield of California, Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Life Technologies and Kaiser Permanente. In addition, each year the HHA organizes a Healthcare Speaker Series. The speaker series features senior executives and thought leaders from the public and private sectors across the healthcare system. Last year’s speaker series covered topics including: starting a med-device company, bringing novel biotechnology to market, health information exchange, global health, provider collaboration challenges, and strategic consulting in life-sciences.
