Reflection from Freya Lee, FTMBA 2017
This weekend, one of my childhood friends took me to Redding, CA. For those of you who don't know where Redding is, it's about 10 miles south of where Haasboats took place, close to Mount Shasta and Lassen Peak, and home to Bethel Church. She was making her quarterly pilgrimage to Redding for spiritual renewal, and she invited me to look for waterfalls alongside her.
After a long, full day of hikes to various waterfalls and lakes, we went to her favorite place: Burney Falls, pictured in the newsletter header above. 100 million gallons of water flow a day from underground springs fed by snowmelt from the Cascade mountains, such that water literally comes out of the rock face. As I stared up at the waterfall in awestruck wonder, one word kept repeating in my mind: Majesty. God, in all of His majesty, created this wonderful sight to behold. God, in all of His creativity, designed the underground network of springs that sends this water to the thirsty. God, in all of His power, knew every detail of this ecosystem and every detail of my heart.
I stood there in silence for a long time, worshipping. What else could I do but worship? I imagined myself standing beneath the waterfall, under the force of God's abundant love. For the first time since the school year started, I felt like my worries and fears about the semester and post-MBA job search were gone, and I was at peace.
1 Chronicles 29:11-13
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 13 And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.
