This event is hosted by the EWMBAA's VPs of Social Impact. We'll head to APC's Urban Farm, spend the day getting firsthand horticulture experience, and then head next door to Almanac Barrel House, Brewery, and Taproom.

1:30 - 3:00 Grab food and drinks at Almanac Barrel House

Logistics/Getting There:
Alameda Point Collaborative Urban Farm is located at 2701 Main Street, Alameda CA 94501. There are parking options and public transit from campus. Additionally, those in San Francisco can take the ferry from SF to Alameda Main Street Terminal, which is a short walk from APC.

About Alameda Point Collaborative (APC):
APC's mission is working to end homelessness and its symptoms by providing permanent housing and supportive services to create communities where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish. To be housed at APC, residents must be experiencing chronic homelessness at time of entry and, at least one head of household must have a permanent disability (mental and/or physical). APC currently uses the decommissioned naval base to house a total of 500 residents. To help break the cycles and symptoms of homelessness for these residents, APC uses supportive services with its permanent housing. These services range from literacy programming, substance abuse counseling, therapy, case management, children and youth programming, adult programming, and employment and education training.

APC's Ploughshares Nursery:
Ploughshares Nursery is a retail plant nursery that specializes in native, drought-tolerant and edible plants. They also host community workshops multiple times a month. 100% of proceeds from Ploughshares Nursery go back to funding our supportive housing and services.

Volunteering at Ploughshares Nursery:
At Ploughshares Nursery, volunteers get firsthand horticulture experience by performing tasks necessary for the nursery to run its daily operations. Such tasks include gardening, watering, weeding, plant propagation and transplants, pruning and composting.
