Workshop Description:
With the future of work rapidly taking shape, savvy leaders recognize that disability inclusion is imperative. While more than 15% of the world is disabled, disability awareness and inclusion are often not prioritized.
Join disabled public speaker + DEI consultant Catarina Rivera, MSEd, MPH, CPACC for this engaging foundational workshop that will equip you with simple best practices and tools for being a more inclusive leader.
This session will discuss common disability microaggressions, inclusive language, and how to respond when someone discloses a disability to you. We'll also address why it's important to focus on disability as a part of diversity, and we'll dismantle 3 key myths that leaders often believe. Catarina's conversational and storytelling speaking style will make this topic approachable for all participants. She uses her own story as a disabled Latine woman to ground you in real-life examples and to create urgency around the imperative for disability inclusion.
This workshop is suitable for Berkeley alumni, students, staff, and faculty. We have tailored the content to meet the needs of current or aspiring workplace leaders, including those looking to build disability inclusion into the foundation of your entrepreneurial endeavors.
