Peer-to-Peer Workshop
California Land Use Entitlements 101

California has some of the most complex land use and environmental impact regulations in the country. A basic knowledge of this framework is essential if you are involved in California real estate, regardless of the specific role you play.

California Land Use Entitlements 101 provides an overview of California’s planning and zoning laws and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), followed by a case study of how these rules shaped the approvals process for the 125-acre Staples Ranch project near Pleasanton, California.

The course will give you the tools you need to:

Identify and assess the hierarchy of planning and zoning laws applicable to your project;
Understand the significance of the type of CEQA review applicable to your project;
Identify commonly overlooked legal tools that could enhance and protect your entitlements; and
Understand how to preserve your interests during the project approval process.

Speakers:

Andrew C. Bell is a private practice land use and natural resources attorney who focuses on real estate and renewable energy projects throughout California.

Stuart Cook is the Deputy Director of the Surplus Property Authority of the County of Alameda, the owner and master developer of the 125-acre Staples Ranch property near Pleasanton, California.

Cost: $10 ULI YLG Members only

Peer to Peer Workshops are structured as small educational sessions with attendance capped to facilitate an interactive classroom-like experience. From Entitlements to Valuation, from Negotiating Leases to Public Speaking, we’ll teach you everything from the ‘basics’ to the ‘tricks of the trade’ Peer to Peer Workshops will help their participants be better rounded real estate professionals resulting in enhanced professional knowledge and personal skills.
