EWMBA ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER: FEBRUARY 16, 2017
OneHello...to the new OneHaas VPs!
WOW! We cannot begin to tell you how excited we are to introduce the amazing lineup of OneHaas VPs for 2017! Without further ado, here is the team in all of their infographic glory:
While coming to speak to various classes, and hosting pizza parties and happy hours to answer questions about the EWMBAA, we were overjoyed by the enthusiasm we saw from all of you. That enthusiasm and passion is what helped create this team of VPs with diverse experiences and interests. This is a group of your classmates that are going Beyond Themselves to volunteer their time and make YOUR MBA experience the best it can possibly be, and for that we are tremendously grateful!
To kick things off, we hosted an onboarding event for our incoming VP’s last Sunday. The result? Lots of exciting ideas to implement over the year. Huge shout out and thank you to Kate Bonk for all of her help in organizing this!
You will be hearing a lot from all of the team members over the course of this year. Please make sure to keep reading this newsletter for all of the events and initiatives that each committee is working on. Also be on the lookout for Facebook updates about particular events, surveys, and projects that we want you to know about.
Finally, as the new OneHaas team gets to work, we would like to send one final message on behalf of the 2016 EWMBAA Executive Team, TLC:
We are proud to present the final summary of accomplishments that the team of 27 VP's and Committee Members achieved! Please click here to see the results!
We wish the entire OneHaas the VERY best: we are humbled to see such amazing future leaders continue the work of the EWMBA Association with such passion, drive, and enthusiasm!
Signing Off: TLC Out! -Matt, Diane, Barun
Thank you, TLC, for all of your amazing work last year!
Thank you for signing the immigration ban petition! How to stay involved

Thank you to all of our classmates who signed the petition to Dean Rich Lyons regarding President Trump’s January immigration ban. Across all of the Haas MBA programs, the petition received over 1,000 signatures! And as we we all informed via email, Dean Lyons is in fact working with other leaders at top business schools to support our efforts.
Would you like to continue to receive news and volunteer for social activism within the Haas community? If so, our colleagues in the full-time program have started a volunteer sheet to gather contact info for anyone that is interested in staying involved. Please use this link to sign up to volunteer.
The group has also registered as a chapter of Indivisible, which is a network that has emerged nationwide to resist policies you might disagree with. This provides you with tools for organizing and connects you with a bigger national movement: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/
This was a great example of cross-program collaboration, something that the OneHaas team is very interested in strengthening. Let’s keep the dialogue going!
Question the Style Quo
Thank you to Nancy Hoque (EWMBA ‘19) for informing us of this great event coming up, hosted by the Women in Leadership and Career Management groups!
Questions about interview skirts, jackets and heels are often questions about confidence, belonging and establishing yourself in a new career. To help you firmly and confidently place yourself in your new positions, WIL and CMG are happy to announce their sponsorship of Question the Style Quo, an event where women's suiting will be discussed, a panel will address audience queries and a community happy hour will follow! Register here and join us on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the Wells Fargo room.
Dean's Speaker Series to stream live on Facebook!

We know that balancing your MBA with a full-time job, family, and personal commitments doesn’t necessarily leave a lot of time for the array of events that take place at Haas week in and week out. But, we have some exciting news! All Dean’s Speaker Series talks will now be streamed live via Facebook Live!
That's right, you can now watch the DSS live from the comfort of your cubicle, conference room, couch, or bathtub...clothing optional! (well, maybe not for your cubicle…)
If you want to catch a live DSS talk, visit https://www.facebook.com/BerkeleyHaas/ (this URL will be the same for every talk). From there, you can watch the live stream, react (like! love! laugh!), and ask questions. A staff member will be at each talk to field Facebook questions.
As Haas has always done, all talks will be archived on the http://www.youtube.com/user/UCBerkeleyHaas YouTube site. So even if you can’t make the live stream, you can always watch it later.
Thank you to the Haas Program Office and Marketing/Communications staff for making this possible!
Dean's Scotch Tasting After-Party
For those of you attending the Dean’s Scotch Tasting Event on Saturday, February 25th, our SUPER SOCIAL VPs of Social (Sora Elcan, Soumya Gatti and Billie Miric) will be hosting an event starting at 8:00pm that night at the Press Club (20 Yerba Buena Ln, San Francisco.)
