On Friday February 4th, Juniper hosted the Haas Tech Club in a Trek visit to its Sunnyvale headquarters. Several presenters shared with us their excitement about working at Juniper and the incredible trajectory of the company. While Juniper may not be a household name, we use their technology when we make a phone call or send an email from a smart phone.
Key take-aways from the visit include
(1) Juniper has a unique value proposition
- The silicon technology that forms the core of its routing and switching products is far ahead of its competition
- It has developed its technology on a single operating system yielding benefits for app developers and for its enterprise clients
(2) The company is on a massive growth trajectory
- Revenue growth for FYE 2010 was $4.1B, representing 23% growth over the prior year
- Juniper has added ~1,000 employees in the last nine months, growing from ~7,700 to ~8,700 employees
- CEO Kevin Johnson has tasked the company with “Mission 10,” the goal of growing revenue to $10B in the next 10 years
(3) Juniper wants to hire Haasies
- They are looking for “talented, driven individuals” who can help them put the processes in place that will allow them to mature as a company on the path to “Mission 10”
- They currently are soliciting for internships in Finance (including functions such as Pricing and Treasury operations) and Strategic Alliances
- In the future they hope to add Marketing and Product Line Management roles
- They are piloting a 2-year rotational program in the strategy group for graduating students (jobs to be posted shortly)
