Description: Smoke from cooking fires kills 4 million people each year...that’s more than AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined. Potential Energy, Inc. is a non-profit social enterprise based in Oakland, CA working to solve this problem. Our flagship product is a high-efficiency, wood-burning cook stove customized to the needs of women in Darfur (Sudan) and Ethiopia. Summer Fellows will receive training at Potential Energy’s HQ offices in Oakland, CA. They will then be deployed to the field to work on fact gathering, analysis, market assessment and research projects in 1-2 Sub-Saharan African countries. At the end of the summer, fellows will re-convene in Oakland, CA (as they are able) to present their findings and discuss / analyze them with the PE team. Social Impact Day at Work with Haas and UCLA Anderson
Haas Net Impact joined UCLA Anderson Net Impact for a Day at Work event last Friday. We visited Red Cross, Kiva Microfunds, the Bridgespan Group, and DBL Investors. It was a great way to learn about the breadth and span of various social impact companies and talk to staff one-on-one. Thanks to UCLA Anderson Net Impact for inviting us!
