Edible Education 101 is a two-unit weekly lecture series that brings renown experts—leading academics and practitioners--- to campus to share their visions, research and experiences about food and its critical role in our culture, well-being and survival. Confirmed speakers this year include Alice Waters, Danny Meyer, Samin Nosrat and Naomi Starkman, among others. Students are required to complete assigned readings, attend all lectures, and write two papers. The course is open to undergraduate and graduate students from all schools at the University.
All lectures are also open to the public - This week’s lecture: The Call for Food Systems Transformation opens the class with Haas Professor Will Rosenzweig with special guest Jack Algiere, Farm Director, Stone Barns Center. More info at registration link:

The Berkeley Food Institute, School of Public Health, and Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley are pleased to announce the launch of a new Graduate Certificate in Food Systems. The certificate responds to an escalating need to empower new leaders with the capacity to create innovative solutions to pressing food and agriculture challenges. Building on UC Berkeley’s strength as a multi-disciplinary pioneer in food systems studies, the Certificate in Food Systems prepares Masters and Doctoral students to think critically about the multi-level, multi-system factors that affect food production, distribution, and consumption locally, nationally, and globally.
