Dear HCF,
Good luck on finals, midterms, and presentations this week! Weekly fellowship lunches resume tomorrow, so meet at Fisher Gate at 12:40pm if you are free!
We are very excited to start our study of faith and work together next Sunday on Part One: God's Plan for Our Work (pp 31-80) of Every Good Endeavor. Note two things:
1. Don't let the reading scare you away from our discussion! We will provide a handout with an overview of the reading on Sunday, so if you don't have time to read in advance, you are still welcome to participate.
2. There is no pressure to attend both the dinner (RSVP) AND the discussion (RSVP). Feel free to attend just one or the other if you're strapped for time. Just please RSVP accordingly so that we can plan ahead. We will decide on the dinner location after we get a sense of how many people can come.
We're really looking forward to it.
Grace and Peace,
Anthony, Jake, and Megan
Weekly Reflection - Ben Cooper (FTMBA '15)
We’re coming to the end of Spring A and so it is out with old classes and in with the new. A classmate recently asked what my final thoughts were on my Power & Politics class and, as usual, I was stumped for any articulate answer. Only later did something come to me. In class, the professor’s most common refrain was “Given her predicament, who should she speak to now?” and the straight forward, secular answer was a mentor, boss etc. However, as Christians the first answer is more likely to be prayer and discussing our lives with other Christians.
Further to this, and thinking back to Ajoy’s recent weekly reflection, it highlights the importance of Christian fellowship generally, and HCF particularly, as a means for accountability. To be clear, this is about so much more than the truth; what is incredible about Christian relationships is the intersection of truth and love and how powerful a combination they are together.
In my personal life, Anna and I spent much of the first few years of our marriage chipping away at each other’s rough edges, but by God’s grace, we slowly emerged as better versions of ourselves. For example, one of the idols I struggle with (and continue to do so) is control, especially the idea that I can regulate everything in my life. However, Anna rarely served me this truth in its cold, raw form or without reference to the Word. If she had, I would have possibly never made the adjustments that are now in place.
In summary, I happily reject the popular notion that “feedback is just feedback” or “feedback is just data” – for this to be case, the secular world assumes it has access to absolute truth and has reduced us to emotionless beings. However, as Christians we do have a model for how to live our lives and, as brothers and sisters in Christ, we can hold one another accountable to that with both truth and love - what a gift!
Praises and Prayer Requests
PRAISE for the HCF community and for the truth that is in Christ.
PRAYER for strength and encouragement during this stressful week. Prayer that this community would be a light internally and externally as we remind one another of the gospel daily.
Please submit your own praises and prayer requests to your co-presidents and specify whether we have permission to include them in the newsletter. Even if you don't want them to be public, we would be so delighted to share in your blessings and lift up your burdens.
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19

Mission Trip Opportunity
An optometry sister involved in a non-profit wanted to pass this opportunity along to HCF:
See the Lord is a non-profit organization based on Christian Catholic principles that seeks to serve the underprivileged around the world by providing healthcare, Catholic ministry, and education by bringing together volunteers with the necessary skills and the underserved in order to share talent and faith. Our current project is bringing vision and eye care services domestically and abroad. Our trips include volunteers of all backgrounds including optometry, medicine, and public health and of all religious affiliations. Together, we will be providing free eye exams, glasses, and health care education to school children and elderly in rural villages.
