April 3, Hendry Wine Tour and Appetizer Pairing
The North Bay Chapter of the Haas Alumni Network has arranged for a private tour, wine and appetizer tasting for 20 of our members from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be a detailed educational tour of the winery and vineyards, covering the arts of winegrowing and winemaking, followed by a series of three two-wine pairings, each with one accompanying food appetizer for each wine.

Thursday, April 7 – Aamir Sheikh – Bank of America – Aamir is a Managing Director at Bank of America and former President, Barra, Inc., Berkeley, CA. He was instrumental in the development and leadership of Barra’s enterprise risk management business prior to the company’s take-over by Morgan Stanley in June 2004. Under his leadership, Barra successfully integrated the acquisition of Redpoint Software and launched the first firm-wide risk management solution for the investment management community. In addition, Aamir has provided significant leadership to Barra’s research practice since he joined the company in June 2004. His research initiatives include Barra’s equity and derivatives risk models. Prior to joining Barra, Aamir was a Professor of Finance at Indiana University. His work on options has been widely published in academic finance publications. Aamir has a Ph.D in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley. He received his A.B. summa cum laude from Columbia University in New York City, where he was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
Thursday, April 21 - Shami Patel – Mr. Patel is a member of the Board of Directors from Golden Pacific Bancorp as well as Golden Pacific Bank and Gold Country Bank. He is a private investor in the financial services sector and current member of the Board at Duke University Law School. Previously, Mr. Patel served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Investment Officer for Alesco Financial, a mortgage real estate investment trust with over $15 billion in assets. Mr. Patel also served as the managing director of Cohen and Company, where he managed $11 billion in bank and insurance company investments.
