Dear HCF,

Hope you're enjoying this beautiful day that the Lord has made!  We had a wonderful gathering at Bill Pearce's house this afternoon to enjoy delicious BBQ, talk about faith in the workplace, and pray for the second years.  Let's continue to pray that God would be with the second years during this critical transition time!

Because of the upcoming Hot Topics next Sunday, we have decided to skip our next book study and have one final fellowship event in early May.  If you have suggestions, let us know!

Finally, are you interested in helping us plan campus-wide finals encouragement for Spring B?  We secured some funding from the program office to do care packages (or something better!), so let us know if you'd like to help plan!

Grace and Peace,

Anthony, Jake, and Megan

Weekly Reflection - Danielle Platt (FTMBA '15)

This week, someone asked me when I had felt the presence of God. For me, I don't feel the presence of God all the time. For me, it's been either in quiet moments in the wilderness, or during dark times of struggle.

This Easter Sunday was one of those times that I felt the presence of God. This Easter, I woke up before sunrise. It reminded me of when I was young and my family would often wake up before sunrise on Easter to go to a sunrise church service. This time, however, I wasn't with my family on Easter. I wasn't even at church.

I was camping on the Lost Coast, a rugged area of coastline in Humboldt County north of here. When I woke up, it was still dark outside and raining. We cleaned up our campsite and started trudging along the beach through the dark and the twilight before sunrise. It was tough; we were cold, wet, and tired, and our packs were heavy. Just as the sun was rising, the rain lifted, and in that moment of pure beauty and relief from rain, I felt the presence of God. The ensuing moments of quiet meditation and devotion were my Easter morning service.

Praises and Prayer Requests

PRAISE for the second years and for their future opportunities.  Praise for God's grace, which is sufficient for us, and His power which is made perfect in our weakness.

PRAYER for an HCF sister whose mother was recently diagnosed with gastric cancer.  Prayer for her family and for her strength during this difficult time.

Please submit your own praises and prayer requests to your co-presidents and specify whether we have permission to include them in the newsletter.  Even if you don't want them to be public, we would be so delighted to share in your blessings and lift up your burdens.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19
