Welcome to Asian-Americans@Haas!

The place of the Asian minority in American history and its present is undeniable. Yet, Asian-Americans can be the “invisible minority” – often erased from conversations about people of color, despite the distinct struggle of the group as a whole and the diverse struggles of members of the community. For instance, in Silicon Valley, Asians occupy a majority of tech roles but an extremely limited number of leadership roles. Asian-Americans are also underrepresented in board positions and in politics across the nation. In Hollywood, Asian actors/actresses are still only 1% of leading roles.

Diversity, whether through gender, race, or career industry, is a key tenet for the MBA experience, and we believe that there is an opportunity to include Asian-American culture in this narrative.

Past/Future Events:
  • An opening BBQ event potluck for club members and alies
  • A film screening of The Search for General Tso, a documentary that outlines the history of Chinese food in America as a direct result of immigration policies
  • Speaking engagements with Asian-American leaders from business, politics, and academia
  • Sharing of local events in the community and the UC Berkeley network
