Our Mission:

Thank you for your interest in DMEC. Our mission is to create a community for people with a passion and curiosity for digital media and entertainment to get involved with the industry and build relevant skill-sets. We will accomplish our mission by providing opportunities for members to:

  • Get smart about the challenges and opportunities facing digital media
  • Connect and interact with professionals and alumni in the field
  • Develop contacts to help land summer internships and full-time positions



Here are a few of our events:

>PLAY Digital Media Conference

Every fall, DMEC hosts the largest student-run conference on the UC Berkeley campus, bringing together over 500 creative professionals and industry leaders to discuss the trends and challenges that face the digital media industry. Driven by Berkeley’s legacy of creativity and role as a leader of digital media technology, >PLAY offers an opportunity for companies to connect with industry professionals and students from the Haas School of Business, the College of Engineering, and the School of Information.

Alumni Events

From social mixers to alumni speakers, DMEC provides students an opportunity to network and learn from alumni working at the most creative and influential companies in the digital media and entertainment industries.

DMEC Speaker Series

Each fall, DMEC organizes thought-provoking speakers from top companies and prominent brands in digital media and entertainment. Past speakers have included representatives from Facebook, Apple, Electronic Arts, Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Mozilla, LucasArts, and more.

DMEC Media Bites Series

Do you want to gain a better understanding about your classmates who worked in digital media& entertainment industries before? We are happy to hold a series of Media Bites tihs year! 

Career Treks

Treks offer students invaluable experiences by giving students the chance to meet with executives and recruiters while going “behind the scenes” of leading companies. In some cases, DMEC may provide attendees with an opportunity to compile a ‘resume book’ for the hosting company. Past destinations have included Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle, and Silicon Valley. DMEC has visited the offices of Twitter, Google, Eventbrite, Zynga, Bump Technologies, and more!

What are alumni up to these days? What companies are hiring interns? What announcements are on the horizon for you to keep an eye on? The digital media and entertainment field is constantly changing and evolving.  While this keeps things interesting, it also makes it hard to keep up with what’s going on. DMEC does the heavy lifting to provide members updates on conferences, upcoming events, and recent events in an easy-to-read format.
