The EWMBA Association has 4 - 5 Elected Positions:
  • President (up to 2 Co-Presidents)
  • Executive Vice President
  • Marketing/Secretary
  • Finance/Treasurer
This Executive Team then appoints Vice Presidents to various positions and committees that serve the given needs of the EWMBA students and Haas. 

The term for all EWMBAA officers runs from the end of the fall semester to the end of the fall semester the following calendar year (December to December). 

Only current Evening and Weekend MBA students may vote in the election.

  • The VP positions listed below are examples of current and past roles. Students who are interested in becoming an EWMBAA VP are encouraged to suggest new committees if they feel they would positively impact the EW student experience. 
  • Academic Cohort Reps are chosen through an application process at the beginning of a class's first year. ACR serve in that role for the first two semesters of their core. 
  • Social Cohort Reps are voted on by the respective cohorts at the beginning of a class's first year.  

2020 Election Timeline:
  • Sunday, November 3, 2019: Candidacy Materials due to EWMBA Program Office (ewmba_office@haas.berkeley.edu) by 11:59PM (see below for candidacy requirements) 
  • Monday, November 4, 2019: Candidates announced and materials published; campaigning may begin after candidates are announced
  • Tuesday, November 12, 2019: Voting begins via personalized email link; campaigning may continue through the end of the voting process 
  • Saturday, November 16, 2019: Voting concludes at 11:59pm
  • Monday, November 18, 2019: Candidates informed of results
  • Wednesday, November 20, 2019: Winners announced via email
  • Sunday, December 8, 2019: Executive team transition meeting (Time and location TBD)

Declare your candidacy by emailing the following to the EWMBA Program Office (ewmba_office@haas.berkeley.edu) by the deadline:
  • Platform Document (Required):
    • Format: Two slides, PDF Format, Pictures and/or Text published to EW Students
    • Content: Who you are and your candidacy details
  • Video (Optional):
    • Format: URL Link to your video, hosted on YouTube/Vimeo/Other video-sharing site
    • Content: Who you are and your candidacy details (no time limit)
    • Note: Please ensure video permission settings allow public viewing to ensure all students can view
Campaign Rules and Regulations:

IMPORTANT: Candidates must ensure that they read the campaign rules carefully and ask for any clarifications they may need. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations will result in immediate disqualification. 
  • Campaigning can occur from the beginning of the period (after the candidates announcement via email) through the time when polls close.
  • You may display flyers on public bulletin boards around Haas. Please only post on bulletin boards designated for student flyers; otherwise they will be removed by Haas Facilities.
  • You may campaign by email, but using official Haas email distribution lists or CampusGroups for mass distributions is prohibited and will disqualify your candidacy (NOTE: the EWMBA Program Office monitors all of these lists).
  • You can use other channels such as social media.  You must request access from the EWMBAA Executive Team to be added to the Facebook pages for each class. 
  • Class visits:
    • Candidates that wish to do class visits for campaign purposes must only do so during specified EWMBA class breaks (between 7:30pm-8:15pm in the evenings and 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday). 
    • Class visits are NOT allowed prior to or at the beginning of class. 
    • Candidates can only visit classes with the consent of the professor/instructor teaching the course
    • Candidates must request permission IN ADVANCE from instructor
  • While you do not need to spend any money to campaign, should you choose to do so, please cap your campaign expenditure at $50.
    • Expenditures are meant to create campaign materials such as posters, flyers, videos, etc. These funds may not be used for purposes outside of campaign supplies and operations (i.e., donating to other organizations, buying gifts for the student body, etc.) Please consult with the EWMBAA Executive Team if you are uncertain about particular expenditures. 
  • The current executive team will not endorse any candidates.
  • The EWMBA Program Office will setup, distribute, and run the voting survey
    • Allow voters (survey takers) to "change" their vote in case of mistakes
    • Every prompt for each position should say "Click to Select Candidate"
  • Exact candidate vote numbers and results are NOT shared and are kept confidential.
  • Negative campaigning is not an effective tool in this type of campaign. Focus on your strengths rather than your competitor’s weaknesses.
