Thanks to Our Diversity Champs!
We wanted to thank those of you who signed up to help with the diversity outreach efforts here at HAAS. We believe diversity enriches our student experience and elevates our class discussions. The level of response you have demonstrated shows that you share our passion for gender, social, racial and LGBT inclusion. We currently have 36 volunteers, of which 50% volunteered to go above and beyond and even share their personal experiences. With your help, we hope to plan and execute several diversity initiatives, the first of which is right around the corner. The Berkeley Diversity Symposium will take place on October 14-15 at Haas and its main goal is to showcase the diversity of the various Berkeley MBA programs to prospective students. Over the next few days we will send you an email posting additional information on the symposium. We count on you to help spread the word via email, word of mouth and social media.Read more
We are using a weighted-sum approach. Here is how it works:
Since we have 4 options of responses for each of the destinations, we give each option a weight. Def in and prefer: 1.25 Def in: 1.0 Maybe in: 0.5 Def out: 0.0
Then, the number of responses per option is multiplied with their respective weights. Finally, all the numbers are added up to come up with the final score for each destination. Highest score wins! Def in and prefer: (# of responses) * 1.25 Def in: (# of responses) * 1.0 May be in: (# of responses) * 0.5 Def out: (# of responses) * 0.0 Read more
Help With Diversity Outreach Initiatives
Many of you have expressed interest in being more actively engaged with diversity related initiatives so, in the spirit of our “Beyond Yourself” defining principle, here is your opportunity to contribute. Over the next few months we will be conducting several diversity outreach initiatives, including the yearly Berkeley Haas Diversity Symposium. The goal is to reach out to women and underrepresented minorities that would be a great fit for the EWMBA, making this program even more HAASOME – yes, I just used the word. We can help increase the success and impact of these events by assisting with organization, spreading the word to increase attendance or… JUST SHOWING UP!Read more
